How to exercise your data rights and raise complaints under applicable Indian law.
1. Purpose
This Grievance Redressal & Data Rights policy explains how data principals (parents, guardians, students where applicable, and staff) can raise complaints and exercise rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") and related rules.

3. Rights You May Exercise
Subject to applicable law and institutional record-keeping obligations, you may request:
- Confirmation of whether we process your personal data and access to a summary.
- Correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Erasure of data no longer necessary for the stated purpose (subject to legal retention).
- Withdrawal of consent for processing based on consent (without affecting prior lawful processing).
- Nomination of another individual to exercise rights in the event of death or incapacity.
- Grievance redressal regarding our processing practices.
4. How to Submit a Request
- Email dnyanda@vss.ac with subject line "Data Rights Request" or "Privacy Grievance".
- Include your full name, relationship to student (if applicable), admission number, registered mobile/email, and a clear description of the request.
- We may request identity verification to protect against unauthorised disclosure.

5. Response Timeline
We acknowledge grievances within 7 working days and aim to resolve them within 30 days, extendable where complexity or third-party involvement requires, with notice to you.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may have the right to approach the Data Protection Board of India or other remedies under applicable law.
6. Complaint Categories We Address
- Unauthorised access or disclosure of personal data.
- Incorrect academic or contact records in the portal.
- Unwanted WhatsApp, email, or SMS after opt-out (see WhatsApp & Messaging Policy).
- Questions about fee payment data shared with Razorpay.
- Retention or deletion requests.
7. Platform Escalation
Technical issues with the Aethon platform may involve Trecsa Technologies (https://trecsa.in) as data processor. We coordinate with them on your behalf where necessary; Vidyarthi Sahayyak Samiti Warora remains your primary contact.
